Abstract
1.
Farmer Exchange Rate (NTP) * South Sumatra in October 2016 amounted to
94.82 percent, indicating that in general the purchasing power of
farmers in October 2016 still decreased compared to the base year of
2012. However, compared to the previous month, October 2016 NTP
experienced an increase of 0.75 percent due to an increase in the price
index received by farmers and a decrease in the price index paid by
farmers.
2. South Sumatra Agricultural Business Exchange (NTUP)
in October 2016 amounted to 102.53 percent, indicating that in general
the purchasing power of farmers in October 2016 was better than the base
year of 2012. And when compared to the previous month, NTUP October
2016 dropped by 0.06 percent.
3. The NTP without the South
Sumatra Fisheries Sector in October 2016 amounted to 94.74 percent,
indicating that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October
2016 also continued to decline compared to the base year 2012. However,
if compared with the previous month, FTT without fisheries in October
2016 up by 0.78 percent.
4. NTUP without the South Sumatra
Fisheries Sector in October 2016 amounted to 102.36 percent, indicating
that in general the purchasing power of farmers in October 2016 was
better than the base year of 2012. However, when compared to the
previous month, NTUP October 2016 actually decreased by 0.05 percent.

Based on the NTP and NTUP subsector, in October 2016 the subsector that
experienced an increase in NTP compared to September 2016 was the
horticulture sub-sector, smallholder plantations, fisheries and capture
fisheries, while the NTP in the food, livestock and aquaculture
sub-sectors decreased. And NTUP has increased, namely in the
horticulture sub-sector, smallholder plantations and capture fisheries
sub-sector, while the NTUP sub-sector for food crops, livestock,
fisheries and aquaculture has decreased.
6. Rural inflation /
deflation is indicated by changes in the price index of goods and
services consumed by farmer households. In October 2016 rural areas in
South Sumatra experienced deflation of 0.82 percent. Where expenditure
groups experienced deflation, namely food, clothing, and education,
recreation and sports, while other expenditure groups experienced
inflation.
