Abstract

* The 2016 cumulative inflation rate is 2.51 percent. While the inflation rate "year on year" (July 2016 against July 2015) is 4.45 percent. The city of Palembang in July 2016 based on expenditure groups, showed that all 7 (seven) groups experienced an increase in the price index, namely the education, recreation and sports group at 2.87 percent; foodstuffs group at 1.92 percent; transportation, communication & financial services group of 1.18 percent; processed foods, beverages, cigarettes & tobacco group of 1.12 percent; clothing group by 0.62 percent; housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group by 0,20 percent; and health group by 0.03 percent.

* Commodities experiencing price increases that caused inflation in Palembang City include: chicken meat, shallots, intercity transportation, high school, air transportation, red chillies and potatoes. While commodities that experienced a decline in prices include: tomatoes, oranges, leeks, mustard greens, chicken eggs and white cabbage / cabbage.
