Abstract

R The total workforce in South Sumatra in February 2016 reached 4,053,706 people, an increase of around 35,854 people compared to the workforce in February 2015 which amounted to 4,017,862 people or an increase of 118,919 people compared to August 2015 of 3,934,787 people.

R The number of people working in the Province of South Sumatra in February 2016 reached 3,894,181 people, an increase of around 78,538 people compared to the situation in February 2015 which was 3,815,643 people or an increase of around 198,315 people compared to the situation in August 2015 which amounted to 3,695,866 people.

R Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in South Sumatra Province in February 2016 reached 3.94 percent, a decrease compared to February 2015 TPT which was 5.03 percent and August 2015 TPT which was 6.07 percent.

R In the February 2016 period, the majority of the population worked in the agricultural, plantation, forestry, hunting and fisheries sectors which reached around 51.14 percent of the total working population.

R Based on the number of working hours in February 2016, 2,415,305 people (62.02 percent) worked above 35 hours per week, while the population worked with less than 15 hours per week working hours reaching 329,935 people (8.47 percent)
In February 2016, the population working at the elementary school level and below still dominated at 1,838,174 people (47.20 percent), while the population working with diploma education was 67,115 people (1.72 percent), and the population worked with university education only 246,236 people (6.32 percent).
